EA-Byline Times Podcast: Trump’s Fake “War on Drugs” May Be for Real War on Venezuela

EA-Times Radio VideoCast: A Trump War v. Venezuela?; A Tariff Truce (for Now) with China

I joined the podcast of Ireland’s RTE, Behind the Story, for a deep dive into the Trump Administration’s threatened war on Venezuela.

I detail the Administration’s mobilization, on the pretext of attacking drug smugglers in fishing boats, of 15 warships — including the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford — a submarine, 15,000 personnel, and 10 F-35 fighter jets.

I set out the context of more than 20 years of US attempts at regime change in Venezuela, the repression of the Maduro regime amid economic problems and the flight of 7.8 million Venezuelans, and the Trump Administration’s “macho warrior” pose.

Then I evaluate the likelihood of escalating US military attacks on Venezuela, hoping to spur an uprising against Maduro.
