An intruder tries to set fire to a refugee center in Drogheda, Ireland, October 31, 2025

I joined the panel on RTE Radio 1’s Brendan O’Connor Show on Sunday for a 54-minute discussion.

The other panelists are economist Emma Howard, political correspondent Louise Byrne of the Irish Examiner, and political consultant Gerard Howlin.

We begin with a detailed analysis of migration, refugees, and asylum seekers in Ireland, amid an attempt to set fire to a refugee housing complex in Drogheda.

All four of us set facts against dangerous disinformation. We set out the numbers, including Ireland’s need for immigrants to sustain its growing economy.

Beyond hard-right agitation and threats, the core problem? Ireland’s long-standing issues with housing and public services are being displaced onto those coming into the country.

We consider the future of Taoiseach Micheál Martin amid discord over his Fianna Fáil party’s disastrous Presidential campaign.

We evaluate why the UK Royal Family finally cut loose Andrew Mountbatten Windsor after the latest revelations of his links with the paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.

And we glance at Tuesday’s elections in the US, including Zohran Mamdani’s attempt to become New York City Mayor and the Governor’s contests in New Jersey and Virginia.
