EA on International Media: Now The Hard Work Begins — Will There Be A Lasting Gaza Ceasefire?
I joined Turkey’s ANews on Monday for a 20-minute analysis of the ceasefire in Gaza, the exchange of 20 surviving Israeli hostages and the bodies of 28 others for almost 2,000 Palestinian detainees, and the even greater challenges that lie ahead.
Cutting through Donald Trump’s ego trip, I outline how the ceasefire came about, spurred by Israel’s airstrike on Qatar trying to kill Hamas negotiators on September 9.
I set out the issues that remain to be resolved, asking if the Trump Administration will remain engaged, if Gulf States can continue to press it to press Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and if the resistance of Netanyahu and Trump to a two-state resolution can be overcome.
