How Viktor Orbán Is Fighting – And Losing – The Digital Battle In Hungary

I joined Poland’s TVP World on Thursday to navigate the story of Hungary, a member of the European Union, spying on the European Commission.

I detail the revelations, from a months-long investigation by European publications, of the Hungarian delegation in Brussels trying to obtain classified information and to turn a Commission staffer into a secret agent.

As the Commission sets up an internal group to look into these allegations, I detail how the incident arose from a Soviet-era approach by Hungary to intelligence operations, the rule of Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, and conflict between Budapest and the EU.

I also consider the current situation in Hungary, including its hindrance of support of Ukraine and a possible challenge to Orban’s rule from the opposition Tisza Party.
