EA-Times Radio VideoCast: After A Challenging Week, Ukraine Still Stands
I joined India’s NDTV on Thursday to analyze Vladimir Putin’s latest and possibly last gamble to conquer Ukraine in his 41-month full-scale invasion.
First, I knock back the channel’s misleading presentation of a rapid Russian advance in eastern Ukraine. I note that the gains in the Donetsk region have been gradual and costly, that the Russians have not taken a town such as Pokrovsk despite more than a year of attacks, and that Ukraine has regained some territory in the Sumy region.
Then I evaluate the pressures on the Kremlin, including Ukraine’s attacks inside Russia, pressure on the economy, and the possibility of toughened sanctions. I project that Putin may have another 6 to 12 months to complete his quest.
