EA on NDTV: A UK-India Free Trade Agreement

I joined Times of India TV on Thursday to explain why the UK-India trade agreement, signed by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Indian counterpart Narendra Modi at Starmer’s residence outside London, is a “game-changer”.

Alongside N.K. Sinha, former Indian High Commissioner to the UK, I describe the economic terms of the agreement, projected to increase trade and investment by 40% in the next few years.

I explain the necessity for Britain in its “Brexit bind”, with the lasting economic damage from leaving the European Union, and the opportunity for India from its agriculture and textile exports to development of defense, technology, and AI sectors.

And amid Donald Trump’s tariffs chaos and the alternative economic system pursued by China, I discuss the realignment of global relationships.
