Sunday’s Coverage: Kyiv — 469 Russian Violations of Easter Ceasefire
UPDATE 0906 GMT:
The Ukraine Prosecutor General’s Office says Russian forces executed four Ukrainian prisoners of war on Saturday near Veterynarne, north of Kharkiv city.
The Russians attacked after 2 p.m. in an assault lasting several hours. Capturing Ukrainian positions, the Russian forces shot the unarmed troops after the servicemembers after the start of the Easter ceasefire at 4 p.m.
UPDATE 0810 GMT:
Just before the end of an Orthodox Easter ceasefire, Russian forces attacked the Chernihiv region in northern Ukraine late Sunday, damaging an energy facility and leaving 12,000 subscribers without power.
The 32-hour ceasefire expired at midnight.
Officials did not provide details on the location of the strike or the extent of the damage caused. The energy provider ChernihivOblenergo said emergency restoration crews will begin operations “as soon as the security situation permits”.
Ukraine’s General Staff said on Sunday that it had recorded 2,299 ceasefire violations, including assaults, shelling, and small drone launches. A Ukrainian military officer said Russian forces continued to attack positions on the frontline.
The military said Russian forces killed three of their own troops. The Russians did not realized the unarmed men, being withdrawn from the frontline, were personnel captured by Ukraine.
ORIGINAL ENTRY: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has congratulated Hungary’s Tisza Party and its leader Péter Magyar on their “resounding victory” in Parliamentary elections on Sunday.
Tisza ended the 16-year rule of the pro-Kremlin, hard-right authoritarian Viktor Orbán and the Fidesz Party. The party took more than 2/3rd of seats, enabling it to overturn Orbán-era legislation that favored his inner circle, curbed rights, and undermined Europe.
Zelensky posted:
Congratulations to @magyarpeterMP and the TISZA party on their resounding victory. It is important when constructive approach prevails.
Ukraine has always sought good-neighbourly relations with everyone in Europe and we are ready to advance our cooperation with Hungary.…

The Orbán administration has been threatening Ukraine’s resistance against Russia’s 49 1/2-month full-scale invasion. It has been blocking a €90 billion European Union loan to Ukraine, supporting Kyiv’s military and financial needs through 2027, and further sanctions against Moscow.
Leaked audios have confirmed the leaking of confidential EU documents and deliberations, through a “hotline” between Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó and his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov.
Both the Kremlin and the Trump Administration intervened to try and save Orbán’s rule. Last Tuesday, US Vice President J.D. Vance addressed a Fidesz rally — saying the EU is the enemy of both the Trumpists and Budapest — and Donald Trump phoned in to praise Orbán.
