EA-Ukraine VideoCast: Kyiv’s Squeeze on Russia’s Oil Exports
I joined Ukrainian journalists Daniel Tkiie and Sofia Nazarenko on Thursday for a 32-minute evaluation of how Ukraine is not only resisting Russia’s 49 1/2-month full-scale invasion but, on some fronts, seizing the initiative.
I analyze the stalled frontlines, with Russia losing territory in March — the first monthly loss for Moscow since 2023. I consider Moscow’s failure to break Ukrainian civilians and energy infrastructure with intense missile and drone strikes.
And I look at the serious constraint on the invasion from Ukraine’s attacks on Russian oil terminals and posts.
Will this force Vladimir Putin to give up his “special military operation”? No, because this would mean giving up his legacy of bringing Ukraine into “Greater Russia”.
But it will certainly limit the Kremlin unless the Trump camp allies with it for Kyiv’s surrender.
