Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s video statement, refusing to leave Kyiv, on the first night of Russia’s full-scale invasion, February 24, 2022
EA on TVP World: Ukraine, Europe, and the US-Israel War on Iran
UPDATE, MARCH 30:
In the third and final part of my 90-minute conversation with War and Politics 24’s Daniel Tkiie in London, I further examine Donald Trump’s relationship with Vladimir Putin.
I discuss the interaction of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine with the US-Israel War on Iran, and I consider US domestic politics and the Trump camp.
I close with a comparison of Trump and Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Donald Trump won’t be successful as a businessman, as a President, as a world leader. It will be as a reality TV star. He made for good television and good headlines because he did or said something outrageous.
Which brings me back to Ukraine — because there is a TV star who has become President. The success is not just Volodymyr Zelensky but of a country which realizes this is not reality TV.
UPDATE, MARCH 26:
In the second part of my 90-minute chat with War and Politics 24’s Daniel Tkiie in London, I consider: why does Donald Trump hate Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky?
I set out how Trump and some in his Administration have tried to belittle and humiliate Zelensky — but also how others, working with Kyiv and Europe, have pushed back against the attempt to abandon Ukraine to the Russian invasion.
And I take on Daniel’s pointed question: “Is Donald Trump a Russian asset?”
ORIGINAL ENTRY, MARCH 23: On Friday I joined Daniel Tkiie, the host of Ukraine’s War and Politics 24, for a special 90-minute chat in London.
In the first part of the discussion, I explain how Ukrainians repelled Vladimir Putin’s hopes for a “3-day war”.
Russia lost that war by April [2022]. Whatever happens after that, they lost.
Russia continues to hold 20% of Ukraine. Regrettably, they may continue to hold portions such as Crimea for quite some time.
But in terms of “winning” by making Ukraine part of Greater Russia —- no, sorry, mate. All you can do, Vlad, is cut your losses at this point.
I begin with how Ukraine not only held out but how it back a leader in military technology, with that contribution evident amid the current US-Israel War on Iran.
I look back over the 49 months of the full-scale invasion. I consider the current state of Ukraine’s resistance: military, political, and economic.
