EA-War and Politics 24 VideoCast: Is Clock Ticking on Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine?
I joined Ukraine’s War and Politics 24 on Monday to analyze why Ukraine-Russia-US talks are unlikely to yield a ceasefire and, because of this, why it is necessary to put more pressure on the Kremlin.
I explain to Daniel Tkiie how Moscow is maintaining its maximalist demands such as the seizure of the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
How do people respond to the Russian threat to pull out of the talks?
For Ukraine, it’s simple: “No, you are not going to get all of the Donbas [Donetsk and Luhansk regions]. No, we can’t give up strategically important territory. And we’re not going to concede on our sovereignty.”
What position will the Trump Administration take?
That leads to consideration of measures such as Europe’s seizure of tankers of Russia’s “shadow fleet”, evading sanctions on transport of oil.
We also discuss the significance of the Israel-US war on Iran for Ukraine’s resistance of the Russian invasion.
