Ukraine’s largest private electricity provider, DTEK, reports the effects of Russia’s masssive strikes on energy infrastructure: residents in Kyiv have electricity for just 1.5 to 2 hours a day.
“Ukraine’s energy workers need the help of our allies to strengthen air defenses and [to] send emergency energy equipment and mobile generators,” the provider says.

Zelensky also spoke to the nation about the latest Russian strikes on energy infrastructure.
Last night, the Russians struck facilities critical to the operation of Ukraine’s nuclear power plants. Today, units at Ukraine’s NPPs reduced power generation, and one unit was automatically shut down. UPDATE 1711 GMT:
Ukrainian drones have struck a Russian factory that manufactures fuel components for cruise missiles.
An official in Ukraine’s State security service SBU said the strike targeted the Redkino Experimental Plant in the Tver region, northwest of Moscow.
“After successful strikes by SBU drones, a massive fire broke out on the factory premises, with a column of black smoke rising above the facility,” the source said.
Regional authorities said a fire erupted after a drone crashed at the site. Governor Vitaly Korolev said there were no casualties and claimed the plant’s production was not affected.
The Redkino Experimental Plant is sanctioned by the US, the UK, and several other countries.
UPDATE 1140 GMT:
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned against Russia and the US reaching agreements without Kyiv’s participation.
Zelensky told journalists on Friday, following trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, “If there are any bilateral agreements between Russia and the US, the provisions related to Ukraine cannot contradict the Constitution.”
He noted that Ukraine does not have full visibility into possible Russia-US business arrangements, but some details have come through intelligence channels.
He referred to the collusion between Vladimir Putin’s top financial advisor Kirill Dmitriev and Donald Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, which had presented a 28-point ultimatum to Ukraine in late October.
“Intelligence showed me the so-called ‘Dmitriev package’ that he presented in the US. It amounts to around $12 trillion,” Zelensky said of the proposed framework for Russia-US economic cooperation.
Officials told Reuters that the two sets of trilateral talks in Abu Dhabi, over four days, made no advance over the status of the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine.
The officials also said agreement on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the largest in Europe, is also impossible.
Vladimir Putin is intent on maintaining control of the Russian-occupied complex in southern Ukraine. Russia rejected the Trump Administration’s proposal to place the ZNPP under US control, supplying both Ukraine and Russian-controlled territories with energy.
ORIGINAL ENTRY: Russia has launched another massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, only two days after trilateral talks including the US to end Moscow’s 47 1/2-month invasion.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said the Russians launched around 40 missiles and more than 400 drones. Damage has been reported in the Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Vinnytsia, and Rivne regions, with other strikes in the Kyiv and Kharkiv regions.
Every day, Russia could choose real diplomacy, but it chooses new strikes. It is crucial that everyone who supports the trilateral negotiations respond to this.
Moscow must be deprived of the ability to use the cold as leverage against Ukraine. This requires missiles for Patriot, NASAMS, and other [air defense] systems. Every shipment helps us get through this winter.
Wherever the security situation allows, rescue and repair operations continue at the sites of Russian strikes. Kyiv has requested emergency assistance from Poland after Russia hit the Burshtynska and Dobrotvirska thermal power plants in western Ukraine.
Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal said strikes also targeted substations and 750 kV and 330 kV overhead transmission lines. Emergency power outages have been introduced across the country.
Russian criminals carried out another massive attack on Ukraine’s energy facilities. The attack continues.
Energy workers are ready to start repair works as soon as the security situation allows.
Hours before the attack, in his nightly address to the nation, Zelensky called for quicker action on air defences and repair of damage to electricity grids and heating systems.
The President noted that more than 1,100 apartment blocks in Kyiv remained without heat after Russia’s assault last Tuesday.
Our negotiating team is returning to Ukraine today, late in the evening. Tomorrow, they will report on the sensitive aspects of the negotiations in Abu Dhabi that cannot be discussed over the phone.

Zelensky told journalists that, during the trilateral talks, Ukraine had agreed to the US request for a ceasefire of attacks on energy infrastructure. However, Russia gave no response.
