Iran Protests: After Deadly Repression, Regime Arrests Leading Activists
I joined India’s Firstpost on Monday to knock back US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s boast that the Trump Administration triggered Iran’s recent nationwide protests through a “dollar shortage”.
I detail the effect of the Administration’s sanctions on the Iranian economy since 2018. However, I also set out the impact of Israel’s 12-day war last June and the long-term mismanagement by Iran’s regime, including serious bank failures last autumn with billions of dollars lost.
Perhaps most importantly, I consider how the protests have causes dating back to the 1990s, with Iranians seeking rights, reforms, and justice as well as economic stability.

Iran mourns victims of US and Israeli-backed riots: https://www.tehrantimes.com/news/523924/Blood-on-Trump-s-hands-Iran-mourns-victims-of-US-and-Israeli-backed
“Citizens attended the event carrying Iranian flags; some held pictures of loved ones killed during the violence. Iran’s national anthem began the ceremony, followed by recitations from the Quran and prayers for the fallen. One woman held up a picture of a young man, identifying him as her 27-year-old son, Mohammad Ali, killed on January 8 by an armed rioter. “He was returning home from work. One of the armed agents of Israel and America shot him at close range. The blood of my son is on Trump’s hands,” she explained, tears streaming down her face…………The demonstrations remained relatively peaceful until January 8 and 9, when the deposed Shah’s son—who has been in close contact with Israeli leaders since at least 2022—called on his “supporters” to take to the streets and topple the government. In response, scores of armed and masked individuals appeared on the streets across Iran, burning public and private property and killing both civilians and security forces, with some employing extremely gruesome tactics.”

Actually quite the opposite to your typical BULLSHIT is happening in iran
I think this mass murder by mullahs may have resulted to be beginning of a watershed moment in iran as far as people’s perspectives of islam. I am stunned at how nearly all funerals that I randomly watched(in hundreds) are avoiding any typical and traditional muslim funeral rituals. I am really surprised to see this in even in remote villages….
I did consider not to post many of these links out of respect and concern for participants, so I only post those that are of lesser risks but they are countless

[Editor’s Note: There is no dispute about destruction of public and private property. It is the framing of who destroyed that property and why — and whether this is used to cover up and shift blame over the extent of mass killings — which is the issue.]
The widespread destruction of public and private property is not merely a “regime version of events”. It is undeniable: https://www.rferl.org/a/iran-protest-uprising-aftermath-burned-mosques-banks/33655659.html
Yesterday and today protests reignite in Asadabaad and Abdanan district after regime attacks people who had attended 40th of murdered protesters.
