EA-Times Radio VideoCast: Ukraine — Is Putin Running Out of Options for “Victory”?

I joined Ukraine’s War and Politics 24 to evaluate a failed “demonstration strike” by Vladimir Putin: does it signal frustration, weakness, or even desperation in his quest to conquer the Ukrainians?

Speaking with host Daniel Tkiie, I analyze last week’s attack with the Oreshnik intermediate range ballistic missile on Lviv in western Ukraine, around 60 km (37 miles) from the Polish border.

I explain that the main purpose of the strike was political, trying to deter Kyiv’s European partners from fulfilling the security guarantees, including US involvement, in the Ukraine-Europe documents being prepared for presentation to the Kremlin.

I set out Putin’s failure with European leaders only reinforcing their support for Ukraine. I consider other challenges for the Kremlin, including only a gradual advance on frontlines; Ukraine’s resistance against aerial attacks on energy infrastructure and other civilian sites; Ukrainian counter-attacks inside Russia; and the Russian economic situation.
