EA on France 24 and TVP World: Putin’s “Window” to Conquer Ukraine
Ukraine War, Day 1,365: Trump-Kremlin Plan for Capitulation of Kyiv
UPDATE, NOV 22:
EA’s David Dunn and Suzanne Lynch of Bloomberg joined Dublin NewsTalk’s Anton Savage Show on Saturday for a 17-minute deep dive into the Trump-Kremlin ultimatum to Ukraine, and whether it can be resisted by Kyiv and its European partners.
David summarizes:
This is enforced capitulation to an incredibly vague, badly written “peace plan” — the sort of a peace plan written on the back of a fag [cigarette] packet.
There’s a lack of detail except on the section of Russia giving money to the Americans. There’s no timeline, there’s no requirement for a ceasefire first, there’s no mechanisms for verification.
It’s written by amateurs and it is incredibly rudimentary. For this to be signed by Thursday is incredible.
ORIGINAL ENTRY, NOV 20: I joined India’s WION on Thursday to take apart the unofficial Trump-Kremlin 28-point plan for Ukraine’s capitulation.
I outline the damage of the plan:
There is no way that Ukraine and its European partners will accept.
They will not accept Ukraine having to give up land that it currently holds, including areas vital for the defense of Kyiv. They will not accept limitation on Ukraine’s military, and they will not accept a deal which does not provide clear security guarantees for Ukraine against a future Russia invasion.
Then I explain why the Trump Administration may be divided over the plan, outlined in discussions between real estate developer Steve Witkoff, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Vladimir Putin’s senior economic advisor Kirill Dmitriev.
Asked by host Susan Tehrani “What would be the best role for the US at this point?”, I reply, “The Trump Administration needs to get its act together and speak with a single voice.”
