Aircraft carrier USS Gerald R Ford, currently heading for the waters off coast of Venezuela

EA-Times Radio VideoCast: A Trump War v. Venezuela?; A Tariff Truce (for Now) with China

In a 25-minute analysis, I chat with Byline Times’ Adrian Goldberg about the Trump Administration using the pretext of a “War on Drugs” to pursue a possible war on Venezuela.

I explain how the Administration’s deception is betrayed by the failure to produce evidence over the more than 50 people they have slain in strikes on fishing boats since early September — and also by at least nine warships, including the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford, moving towards the Venezuelan coast.

I note how “regime change” has long been part of US foreign policy in Latin America, but also why the Trump approach is very different from that of predecessors before, during, and after the Cold War.

And I consider, “Where will this end?”
