UPDATE 1113 GMT:

As well as striking airfields and an oil terminal in Russian-occupied Crimea (see 0631 GMT), Ukraine has hitting another explosives manufacturing plant inside Russia.

The Sverdlov plant is in the city of Dzerzhinsk in the Nizhny Novgorod region, 800 km (500 miles) from the Ukrainian border. Its production of munitions includes warheads for precision-guided missiles and anti-tank missiles, aircraft and artillery shells, guided air bombs, and ammunition for air defense and engineering units.

It has been sanctioned since 2023 by the European Union and the US.

At least five civilians were murdered and 22 others injured by Russian attacks across Ukraine over the past day.

Air defenses downed 83 of 116 drones launched by Russia overnight. Thirty UAVs struck seven locations.

In the Zaporizhzhia region in the south, one person was killed and 11 injured amid 762 attacks on 17 towns.

In the neighboring Kherson region, two civilians were murdered and three wounded.

UPDATE 0631 GMT:

Ukraine’s drones struck airfields and an oil terminal overnight in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Explosions were reported near the Saki and Kacha airfields. A fuel tank was ignited at the Feodosia oil terminal, starting a large fire visible tens of kilometers away.

Russian authorities on the peninsula have made no statement.

Feodosia is the largest oil depot in Crimea, storing up to 250,000 tons of fuel.

Ukrainian strikes have led to rationing of gasoline in the occupied area. As of late September, around 50% of stations had stopped selling fuel.

Claimed video of the burning terminal:

A Ukrainian attack damaged energy facilities in Belgorod city in western Russia, leaving almost 40,000 residents without electricity.

Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said the assault caused “significant damage” across seven municipalities.

On Monday, partial power outages continued in 24 settlements, affecting 5,400 residents, he said.

ORIGINAL ENTRY: Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky says the world has offered “zero real reaction” to Russia’s intense drone and missile strikes.

Zelensky spoke after Moscow launched one of its largest assaults of its 44 1/2-month full scale invasion, with around 500 drones and 52 missiles. Six civilians were murdered and 18 injured in the five-hour attack early Sunday.

In the Lviv region in western Ukraine, a focus of the strikes, a 15-year-old girl and three other members of her family were slain when their house was destroyed. Eight others were wounded.

In his nightly address to the nation, Zelensky said the Russians “are not even trying to hide their true intentions” as they hit civilians areas and try to demolish energy infrastructure.

The President noted that the drones and missiles included components from countries such as the US, Taiwan, the UK, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, and South Korea. He called for stronger export controls and tougher sanctions.

There is no worthy, strong reaction from the world to everything that is happening. To the constant increase in the scale and audacity of the strikes. That is why Putin is doing this: he is simply laughing at the West, at its silence and lack of strong action in response.
