UPDATE 1338 GMT:

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has commented on Russia’s overnight strikes with more than 550 missiles and drones, killing at least five civilians and wounding at least 18.

We need more protection and faster implementation of all defense agreements, especially on air defense, to deprive this aerial terror of any meaning. A unilateral ceasefire in the skies is possible – and it is precisely that which could open the way to real diplomacy. America and Europe must act to make Putin stop.

ORIGINAL ENTRY: Russia carried out a “double tap” attack on a railway station in northeast Ukraine on Saturday, murdering a 71-year-old man and wounding 30 people, including three children.

The Russians hit two trains on Saturday, setting the carriages on fire. They attacked again after first responders gathered at the site.

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky posted video of the burning carriages.

The Russians could not have been unaware that they were striking civilians. And this is terror the world must not ignore. Every day Russia takes people’s lives. And only strength can make them stop. We’ve heard resolute statements from Europe and America – and it’s high time to turn them all into reality, together with everyone who refuses to accept murder and terror as normal. Lip service is not enough now. Strong action is needed.

In his nightly address to the nation, Zelensky spoke of dozens of Russian drones attacking energy facilities, railways, and other civilian infrastructure in the Sumy and Cherhihiv regions.

“The electricity situation remains difficult…but every effort is being made to restore the power supply,” he said.

The President reiterated:

Russia ignores or rebuffs literally every opportunity to end the war and guarantee security. Putin wants to wage it, and do it by terrorist, despicable methods. Russia must feel the consequences.
