I joined Ukraine’s War and Politics 24 on Thursday to analyze the latest developments in Russia’s 45-month full-scale invasion, from Ukrainian counter-attacks to US sanctions on Russian oil companies to Vladimir Putin’s eternal hope of conquest.

Ukraine surprised Putin because it did not give up so easily. So does Putin abandon that he gets “greater Russia”. The answer is no.

Because if Putin stays in power, he has failed in his big quest. When you get men in power in the last years of their run, they get more and more determined that they have to succeed.

Putin does not want to die without saying, “I gave Ukraine to Russia.”
