Finnish troops open the NATO Northern Command for Land Forces headquarters in Mikkeli, October 3, 2025 (Scandinavian News Agency)
Ukraine War, Day 1,320: Zelensky — “Zero Real Reaction” To Russian Drone and Missile Strikes
I joined India’s WION on Monday to analyze NATO’s establishment of a command center in Mikkeli, Finland, around 140 km (87 miles) from the Russian border.
I cut through Russian propaganda, amplified on social media, that the Northern Command for land forces is an expansion of NATO’s “threat” to Moscow. I note that the headquarters will have just 10 staff to begin, and will reach a total of 50.
I set this in the context of Finland’s accession to NATO in April 2023, a move spurred by Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine. I add the past and recent development of Russian “hybrid warfare”, including drone and fighter jet overflights from Poland to Estonia.
I also discuss the current situation in Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in the ground and on the air, on both sides of the border.
Watch from 2:00:
[Editor’s Note: There is no reputable military analyst who has argued that the Russian drone and fighter jet incursions were “false-flag operations”.]
The people of Finland hoped that, by electing a Russian-Finn as mayor of Helsinki, they could cool some of the hotheads and bring about some rational policies. So much for that.
Can Professor Lucas prove that the drone incursions were not false-flag operations? Military analysts say that the Ukrainians have been able to take control of Russian drones, down them and turning them around electronically.
