EA-Times Radio VideoCast Special: Zelensky’s White House Triumph
EA-Times Radio VideoCast: Ukraine — Can Zelensky and Europe Counter Putin’s Manipulation of Trump?
After my snap analysis with Times Radio following the press appearance of Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump, I returned to the channel’s Trump Report on Tuesday to assess the outcome of the mission by Zelensky and seven European leaders to Washington.
I explain to Maddie Hale why, in contrast to Vladimir Putin’s manipulation of Trump last Friday, this was a “big win” for Ukraine and Europe. I work through the Trump Administration’s first commitment to security guarantees for Kyiv, the difficulty for Putin of the proposal for a face-to-face meeting with Zelensky, and the importance of Ukraine and the Europeans regaining the political initiative.
I set this in the context of the false narrative, “Russia is winning”, noting that Moscow has seized less than 1% of Ukrainian territory since November 2022.
I also explain the motives of J.D. Vance, who opposed aid to Ukraine and ambushed Zelensky in late February but who kept quiet on Monday.
