Zelensky noted, in his nightly address to the nation, that Russia had never been a party to the convention “and is using anti-personnel mines with utmost cynicism” along with munitions such as ballistic missiles: “This is a hallmark of Russian killers. To destroy life by all means at their disposal….We see how our neighbors in Europe react to this threat.
Finland, Poland, and the three Baltic States of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania have withdrawn from the convention or indicated that they will do so.

The Russians fired 477 drones and 60 missiles early Sunday as they try to break the resistance of Ukrainians to Vladimir Putin’s conquering of the coutnry.
Air defenses downed 211 of the 477 drones, and 225 were lost to electronic counter-measures. The defenses intercepted 38 of 60 missiles, and one was lost to counter-measures.
Civilians sheltered from the bombardment, but three were slain and another two were killed bym shelling.
Ukraine also lost one of its F-16 fighter pilots, Maksym Ustymenko. President Zelensky gave him the title of Hero of Ukraine, explaining how Ustymenko downed seven targets but could not eject from his damaged jet after the last success.
In his nightly address to the nation, Zelensky focused on measures to restrict Russia’s attacks:
Global sanctions against Russia must now be one of the top priorities. They are a real tool for limiting Russia’s strategic capabilities and potential, and they must increasingly and painfully restrict Russia’s ability to continue its war against our independence.
Our institutions are working on the synchronization of European and Ukrainian sanctions. We are also fully aligning the European sanctions package targeting the regime in Iran, which includes numerous individuals, companies, and entities not only involved in military production… pic.twitter.com/cdUdJnbeo7
