EA-Times Radio VideoCast: Trump — When Wannabe Dictator and Economic Moron Intersect

EA’s David Dunn joined Germany’s DW News on Thursday to analyze Donald Trump’s latest tariff tantrum.

Citing a television ad — funded by the Ontario Government — which features Ronald Reagan’s warning in 1987 against high tariffs, Trump ranted on social media that he is ending trade discussions with Canada.

David demolishes Trump’s shout that the ad is “fake”, “It’s just touched a nerve because Ronald Reagan has an iconic status in the Republican Party and in America.”

He notes Trump’s concern that the Supreme Court will soon consider the legality of the tariffs, and he outlines the contrast between a growing US economy under Reagan and the “economic hit”, cutting growth and productivity, of Trump’s approach.

Ronald Reagan would be turning in his grave, not only over Trump’s trade policy but also by the way in which Trump is abdicating America’s international leadership, abandoning American allies.
