Will Russia back US and hold back any Assad offensive?

Fall of a Journalist: John Pilger and the Russia-Syria Disinformation Activists
The US Government has warned the Assad regime against an offensive to retake opposition territory in southern Syria, near the Jordanian and Israeli borders.
Responding to reports from pro-Assad outlets of deployments for an assault on areas such as Dara’a Province, where the 2011 uprising began, the State Department said the US will take “firm and appropriate measures” over any violation of a de-escalation zone, declared by Washington and Russia last July.
Following the regime’s conquest of East Ghouta near Damascus and the capture of a pocket in northern Homs Province last month, much of Dara’a and Quneitra Provinces is one of two large areas still controlled by the opposition. The other is in the northwest — almost all of Idlib Province, and parts of neighboring northern Hama and western Aleppo Provinces.
Turkey is protecting the northwestern area, and Russia — for now — is joining Ankara in observation posts to deter any ground offensive. That has left the south as the likely target of a pro-Assad advance, but the involvement of Iranian-supported militia and Hezbollah could bring Israeli intervention.

Pro-Assad blogs have been cheering the move of some of the regime’s top units towards Dara’a. State media have reported that planes have dropped leaflets demanding that rebels disarm.
State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said in a Friday statement, “As a guarantor of this de-escalation area with Russia and Jordan, the United States will take firm and appropriate measures in response to Assad regime violations.”
She focused on Moscow with the call, “Russia is duly responsible as a permanent member of the UN Security Council to use its diplomatic and military advantage over the Assad regime to stop attacks and compel the Assad regime to cease further military offensives.”
Definitely an important statement from the US about the regime’s offensive in southwestern Syria. 1) uncharacteristically strong remarks about a region widely thought to be outside the US purview 2) it reaffirms that the US is party to the de-escalation agreement in the SW. pic.twitter.com/3aASPhh1k7

Gunmen Kill 5 White Helmets in Aleppo Province
Gunmen have killed five White Helmets rescuers and injured two others in southern Aleppo Province.
The attackers struck the al-Hader center during the iftar dinner breaking the Ramadan fast on Friday. Four men were slain immediately, and the fifth died on Saturday morning.
Armed men have periodically targeted White Helmets centers. Seven volunteers were killed in Sarmin in Idlib Province last August.
A horrible massacre at dawn today Saturday, 26-5-2018, an unknown armed group raided the Civil Defense Center in the town of #TalHadya (#Alhader center) in #Aleppo’s southern countryside and fired directly at our #WhiteHelmets volunteers killing 5 injuring 2. #RIP pic.twitter.com/0TdI8Ml0CJ

Syria’s army is on a path to victory after ousting rebels from Damascus: https://www.washingtonpost.com/gdpr-consent/?destination=%2fworld%2fsyrias-army-is-on-a-path-to-victory-after-ousting-rebels-from-damascus%2f2018%2f05%2f25%2f695e4870-5e9b-11e8-b656-236c6214ef01_story.html%3f&utm_term=.4adfdb522587
By Syrian army, I assume you mean Iranian militias and the Russian airforce.
By rebels I take it you mean Saudi, Gulf and US backed foreign jihadists
Lets refresh Assad supporters on who owns their country…..

Garbage source like the rest you post in here from years. Sorry. Insert coin, try again.
The British carried out a rescue mission by smashing down the walls of the prison those SAA operatives were held at which led to a major diplomatic scandal.

Same fate even in Northern Hama. Basically i think its safe to say after the removal of those small rebel pockets in damascus, Syria’s partition is a fact. I dont think Assad can liberate anything else.

You made the same prediction about East Aleppo 🙂
Never made such prediction….but i remember perfectly well someone else denying and making a bafoon of himself during JAF breaking the siege. You disapeared for how long in those days ? a month or more lol. Keep spreading bs Andre. And cheer up….Assad still controls less than 40% of the country 🙂 🙂
Never made such prediction
Actually you did make that prediction, along with the conclusion that Russia’s intervention had been a failure.
You also parroted on the utter devastation from the April 2017 missile attack only to wipe the egg off your face 24 hours later as Syrian planes resumed taking off from the same airfield.
Today Assad controls less than 40% of the country
ROFLA. You must be confusing Assad with the Kurds. The red patch looks a lot bigger than 40%.

🙂
You are completely delusional. Keep making things up Andre. You are left only with that. Keep us laughing.
The map speaks for itself. Having cleaned up all of Damascus, the SAA have 50 thousand extra troops who are available to help in taken back the Daraa and the rest of the South Western territory.
If bombing a bunch of hospitals and other civilian infrastructure and turning it into rubble is “liberation” then he liberated the shit out of it. Or I should say his foreign overlords “liberated” it as the Russians were hip deep in blood.

You musty be referring to the 590 last hospitals and last clown in East Aleppo that Assad kept destroying.
Or I should say his foreign overlords “liberated” it as the Russians were hip deep in blood.
As in million murdered Vietnamese, or 1.5 million murdered North Koreans, or the half a million dead children in Iraq before the 2002 invasion which killed a further 1 million?
Diversion and whataboutism. Yawn.
Another day, another comment from Kevin that contains “whattaboutism”….yawn
I’m sorry that you can’t make relevant arguments based on facts without resorting to the same childish whatboutism that the Russians you worship use constantly to justify every war crime they commit. You are fooling absolutely no one.
Yeah and I really don’t give a shit. I’m going to continue to call out your sad ass whataboutism for what it is.
Bunian Marsous Op (which is one of the most badass rebel groups) with US support. Say bye bye to Daraa aswell Bashar.
unian Marsous Op have put up stiff resistance but with 50K SAA troops now freed up after cleaning up all of Damsascus, the liberation of Daraa is innevitable.
