Amid the fallout over Donald Trump’s firing of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson (pictured), I joined Monocle 24’s The Briefing on Wednesday to assess where US foreign policy is heading — and who might be next to be thrown overboard by the White House.

If [National Security Advisor H.R.] McMaster goes, that’s key. This pragmatic response to Trump — this idea of acting not as if you’re at a campaign rally, not as if you’re on Twitter but what you can actually get done internationally — crumbles with [Defense Secretary] Jim Mattis the last man standing.
