As Iran hosts the Assad regime’s UN Ambassador, the head of the Revolutionary Guards has proclaimed that Syria’s largest city Aleppo is the “frontline of the Islamic Revolution”.

Guards commander General Mohammad Ali Jafari hailed last week’s reoccupation of all of Aleppo by foreign forces — including Iranian units and Iranian-led Iraqi and Afghan militia — alongside Syrian army and paramilitay units.
He said the success was “one of the greatest defeats to our enemies led by America and Israel”.

Jafari pointed to a long-term presence of the Iranian military in Syria, as the task of “ensuring our security has surpassed our borders”.

The Guards’ deputy commander, General Hossein Salami, reinforced the declaration as he spoke of cooperation between the Russian Air Force, Iran-backed “resistance forces”, and the Syrian Army: “There is natural harmony between the allies of Syria on an operational level…Each power acts in concert with the other forces”.

Tehran’s Warning to “Terrorist Supporters”

On Wednesday, a high-ranking Iranian official used a meeting with Syria’s UN Ambassador to put out a warning to those backing the Syrian opposition and rebels.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the special advisor on foreign affairs to the Speaker of Parliament, said “playing the card of terrorism is tantamount to playing with fire”.

He proclaimed, “Tehran will continue its effective support until a political solution is achieved.”

Iranian State media said Ambassdor Ja’afari “described Iran as Syria’s ally in the battle against terrorism and lauded the Islamic Republic as a front-runner in the campaign against Takfirism”.
