Al Jazeera’s Witness posts a 25-minute video of the work of Syria’s White Helmets civil defense organization. There is first-hand footage of the rescuers on their operations and interviews with them as they deal with the deaths and destruction of the conflict.

Al Jazeera’s editors note that more volunteers have been killed by Russian and regime attacks since the documentary was made. The death toll among the White Helmets is now 132.

The BBC World Service has broadcast a tribute to Khaled Omar Harrah, who was filmed in 2014 in Aleppo during a 14-hour rescue of a two-week-old baby. Last Thursday, he was killed in an airstrike on the city.
