After three years of negotiations, mainly behind closed doors, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership is beginning to get public attention — and much of it is far from positive.

The proposed arrangements between the US and Europe to boost trade, investment, and GDP are being challenged for possible effects in areas such as health and safety, the environment, and the privatization of public services.

Following a comment from Noam Chomsky — a critic of the proposals — I spoke with BBC Radio 5 Live on Sunday night to explain TTIP and discuss its benefits and threats.
