PHOTO: President Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday

President Obama has completed his tour of Britain, but the political debate over his visit continues. Those wanting a British exit from the European Union in a June 23 referendum have responded to historical lies — no, Obama did not remove the bust of Winston Churchill from the White House. They have invoked to say the “part-Kenyan” Obama is motivated by a hatred of British colonialism. They have declared that Obama is trying to stomp on British sovereignty — just like the EU does.

What they have not done is confront Obama’s political, military, and economic arguments for why US interests — and Britain’s and Europe’s — are better served by a vote to remain in the EU.

I talked through the issues with BBC WM on Monday morning.
