PHOTO: Aladdin discovers that 54% of Republicans favor ban on Muslims entering US

A poll of more than 1,000 Americans has discovered that 25% of them are prepared to bomb Agrabah, the country of the fictional character Aladdin.

Among Republicans, 30% approved the bombing, with 13% opposed and 57% unsure. Among Democrats, 19% are pro-Agrabah War, 36% say No, and 45% are still considering the question.

The survey, carried out after last Tuesday’s debate among Republican candidates for the Presidency, found particularly strong support for the destruction of Aladdin’s home from supporters of businessman and former Apprentice host Donald Trump: 41% are ready for war with Agrabah, while only 9% are opposed.

Perhaps more seriously, 54% of Republicans back Trump’s proposal to ban all Muslims, including Aladdin, from entering the US with only 25%. The proposal has a massive 82-5 endorsement among Trump supporters, but backers of Texas Senator Ted Cruz also give approval by a 57-25 margin. Those favoring Florida Senator Marco Rubio are split (39-40), and likely voters for former Florida Governor Jeb Bush oppose the idea with 21% favoring and 37% objecting.

The 532 Republicans survey also favor a national database for Muslims by 46% to 37%, largely because of a 66% to 15% margin among Trump supporters.

They draw the line at a ban on mosques, with 28% in favor and 47% opposed. Only Trump’s likely voters give support, by a 45-28 margin. They are also the only group ready to declare Islam illegal, by an edge of 42-33.

The endorsement of the bombing of a fictional country, as well as real-life restrictions on Muslims, is propped up by belief in a fictional event: 36% of Republicans — including 49% of Trump supporters and 47% of those for Cruz — believe Trump’s fantasy line that Arabs in New Jersey cheered when the World Trade Center was attacked on September 11, 2001.
