The trial of Jason Rezaian, the Washington Post correspondent in Iran, will resume on Monday.

Rezaian has been imprisoned since a raid that also arrested his wife, fellow reporter Yeganeh Salehi, and two other journalists on July 22. His first hearing, on charges of espionage and propaganda against the state, was behind closed doors on May 26.

At the hearing, Judge Abolghassem Salavati — known as the “Judge of Death” for his lengthy sentences — presented evidence against Rezaian, including a letter to President Obama, an offer to help journalist Lara Satrakian with information, and contact with Reza Marashi of the National Iranian American Council.

Rezaian met his court-appointed attorney only once before the hearing.

The journalist, an Iranian-American national, has worked in Iran since 2008 and been the Post correspondent since 2012. His wife Salehi, who reports for the UAE-based The National, has been free on bail since October and is awaiting the date for her trial.
