In a further confirmation of the effort to complete a comprehensive nuclear agreement by July 1 — and possibly an earlier, unstated deadline — the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and Britain have said that they will join Iran-US talks next Monday.

Iranian and American delegations reconvene in Switzerland on Sunday. Earlier this month, the two sides held three days of discussions, including 10 hours of negotiations between US Secretary of State John Kerry and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini will chair next week’s talks, with Zarif joined by Germany’s Frank-Walter Steinmeier, France’s Laurent Fabius, and Britain’s Philip Hammond. The State Department has not yet formally confirmed Kerry’s attendance.

Last Saturday, Kerry made a suddenly-scheduled visit to Paris to see the three European ministers, after Fabius expressed concerns over the proposed deal with Tehran.

Iran has made significant concessions over its uranium enrichment and stockpile of nuclear fuel inside the country; however, differences remain over the timetable to lift US-led sanctions on Tehran.

Head of Revolutionary Guards Hails “Export of Islamic Revolution”

The head of the Revolutionary Guards, General Mohammad Ali Jafari, has proclaimed that Iran is growing in regional influence in “a new chapter” in the export of the Islamic Revolution.

Jafari told the Assembly of Experts:

The Islamic Revolution is advancing with good speed, its example being the ever-increasing export of the revolution.

Today, not only Palestine and Lebanon acknowledge the influential role of the Islamic republic but so do the people of Iraq and Syria. They appreciate the nation of Iran.

The phase of the export of the revolution has entered a new chapter.

Jafari spoke of the situations in Lebanon and Palestine:

Hezbollah and its resistance against one of the armies in the world — that is to say the army of the Zionist regime…is one of the Islamic revolution’s miracles….

Supporting Lebanon and the Gaza Strip are among the Islamic Republic’s fundamental principles.

Top Iran MP: “Capture of US Military Advisors by Iraqi Army” Proves Washington Created the Islamic State

The chairman of Parliament’s National Security Commission has claimed “proof” of the US creation of the Islamic State, declaring that American military advisors have been captured by Iraqi forces

Alaeddin Boroujerdi referred to claims, circulating in Iran since Saturday, that the Iraqis seized “American, Israeli, and Arab nationals” in a desert near Mosul in northern Iraq.

The story has not been supported by any public evidence.

However, Boroujerdi told reporters on Wednesday, “The capture of the American advisers by the Iraqi army leaves no doubt that the Islamic State has been created by the US.”

He continued, “The American people who will never forget the beheading of their journalists by the Islamic State now blast Washington officials as the main culprits in the crime.”
