Addressing residents of Iranian Azerbaijan on Wednesday, the Supreme Leader has restated that his “Resistance Economy” can defy US-led sanctions, amid ongoing talks for a comprehensive nuclear settlement.

Ayatollah Khamenei maintained that even Iran made nuclear concessions “according to what [the US and its allies]dictate”, the “sanctions won’t be lifted as they are opposed to the Revolution itself”.

He assured, “We can resist sanctions and deter enemies’ goals”, for example, through the “largest oil reserves in the world”. He added that, if there were new restrictions, “then the Iranian nation will sanction the West”.

Explaining how Iran can overcome its own economic difficulties if there is no nuclear resolution, the Supreme Leader said, “Reliance on #oil revenues should be cut off — reliance should be on domestic production and taxes. There shouldn’t be tax evasion among the rich.”

Khamenei again challenged US intervention in the region, competing with Iran’s own political and military measures in Iraq and Syria. He apparently referred to a letter from Barack Obama in October, in which the US President wrote of US-Iran cooperation against the Islamic State if a nuclear deal was concluded.

While forming a false coalition against the Islamic State, the US wrote to Iran’s Foreign Ministry that they don’t support the Islamic State but evidence shows the contrary.

Revolutionary fighters and public forces that fight the Islamic State have images which clearly show US arms support for the Islamic State.
