Video Analysis: Does Fall of Homs Mean Assad is Winning?

The insurgent faction Jaish al-Muhajireen wal Ansar has claimed more gains in the Layramoun area of northwest Aleppo.

Opposition fighters have been advancing for weeks in Layramoun and Zahra, hoping to disrupt — or even capture — key military positions and isolated Syrian forces in regime-held areas of Syria’s largest city.

JMA, a group of foreign fighters led by Chechens, say they have taken “20 objectives” since Thursday. It also asserts that it killed between 30 and 50 Syrian troops and captured 7 in a fight on Saturday night in Zahra.

Insurgents have surrounded the Air Force Intelligence headquarters in Layramoun, a command-and-control center for Assad forces, and taken the nearby Palace of Justice and earlier buildings.

Earlier this week, the opposition groups inflicted a defeat on Hezbollah and Syrian forces in Zahra, taking the main street.
