President Assad’s forces dropped barrel bombs on insurgent-held neighborhoods of Aleppo on Saturday, killing at least 15 people, according to local activists.

At least five barrel bombs exploded on roads in Masaken Hanano, where four people were killed, and Haidariyeh, where 11 people were killed Other bombs were dropped in the Kalaseh neighborhood, according to the Aleppo Media Center.

Saturday’s bombings follow days of similar attacks, including an attack on Tuesday that hit a mosque used as a school in Aleppo. Assad’s forces have stepped up a campaign to retake insurgent-held parts of the city.
