More than 80 people in and near Aleppo died on Monday in the 10th day of the Syrian military’s bombing campaign.

Almost 400 people — nearly all civilians — have been killed since December 14.

The Local Coordination Committees said 178 people were slain across Syria on Monday, including 28 children and 14 women. Of the deaths, 84 were in Aleppo Province.

The LCC also said 68 people had been killed in Damascus and its suburbs. It claimed most had died in Nabk, a town north of the capital taken earlier this month by regime forces. Alleged images of the mass killing have been posted on Facebook.

The White House condemned “the ongoing air assault by Syrian government forces on civilians, including the indiscriminate use of SCUD missiles and barrel bombs in and around Aleppo over the last week”.

It called on the Assad regime to “fulfil its November commitment to do more to facilitate the safe and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance, so that millions of Syrian men, women, and children have access to urgently needed services”.
