Moscow should be proud of unflinching stance on Syria, Iran, Russian President says.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday positioned Russia as a world power which played an integral role alongside other leading states in addressing the Syrian and Iranian questions.

Moscow had played a significant role in deciding the Syrian and Iran questions, but had not done so alone. These results were achieved in conjunction with Russia’s cooperation with other countries, Putin told reporters during his online annual press conference.

“I consider that we really did play a significant role in resolving acute and long-standing problems, both connected with Syria and connected to the Iranian nuclear program, but we are by no means alone,” Putin said.

“Without our work with the Americans, the Europeans, with our Chinese friends, it would not have been possible to achieve these results,” he added.

Putin added that Russia could be proud of its principled stance on Syria and Iran. “We did not flinch, so to speak, we didn’t jump from side to side.”
