I spoke with Monocle 24’s The Briefing on Friday afternoon about the British Parliament’s rejection of military intervention and what happens next. Also in the conversation were Colonel (Rtd.) Richard Kemp of the Royal United Services Institute and Monocle correspondent Steve Bloomfield.

Listen to discussion from 6:31 on The Briefing homepage or in a pop-out window.

Take-away points:

1. It will not be unusual if France accompanies the US in military action — the question is, “Who else will join?”

2. The US, Britain, Turkey, Israel, and other countries are quietly liaising over intelligence, analysis, and presentation — note the story in the media, put out from Israeli intelligence, of Assad moving SCUDs around the country to protect them.

(Since the interview, another example has been the revelation in Turkish media, ahead of the US Government’s presentation on Friday afternoon, of the details of last week’s chemical weapons attack by the regime.)
